What is a   Ketogenic Diet
Ketones are a safer and healthier source of fuel for the body. Let’s explain this: 

Glucose is the primary source of energy for tissues in the body. Enzymes break down carbohydrates in the gut into glucose before it gets into the blood for use. 

In the absence of glucose - for instance, during starvation - the body turns to its stash of glucose for fuel. When this storage depletes, the body turns to stored fats. These fats break down into ketone bodies (or ketones) which provide fuel for the body. 

High-fat diet and heavy carbohydrate foods are common sources of glucose and energy.  These foods may release harmful inflammatory substances, called reactive oxygen species (ROS). 

Ketones produce larger amounts of energy than glucose. They also have the advantage of reducing the risk of illnesses associated with these ROS. Examples of these diseases include diabetes and obesity. 

So ketogenic diet consists of more ketones and small amounts of carbohydrates.

Ketogenic diets come in different forms. All forms contain three main constituents. These include ketone bodies, medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) oils, and electrolytes. All these constituents have great health benefits.
