Dealing with the Social Isolation of the Covid-19 Pandemic

A llama has made news by being the source of antibodies (immune proteins) that were combined and engineered to produce another antibody that seems promising as a COVID-19 vaccine candidate. But, not so fast! The new antibody must undergo testing in other animals before it can be tested in humans to see if it works and is safe. This means it is still a long way from being useful to prevent COVID in humans.
There are many vaccine candidates in different stages of research all over the world and we can only hope that one of them eventually makes the cut. Such a breakthrough will not be a day too soon.
