Syphilis: All you need to know

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by a bacterium called Treponema pallidum.   

It is mostly transmitted through unprotected sexual intercourse, however, even if there's no penetration during sexual activity, genital contact with the infected body fluid can expose you to the infection.
