Women with hypertension in pregnancy have been known to have a risk for long-term complications such as chronic or persistent hypertension and its effects, but a new study revealed that this risk may be more common than once thought.
The researchers used a per-woman rate to assess women’s risk of long-term complications of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy. This study provides useful detail to healthcare providers about the long-term risks of hypertension in pregnancy and how aggressive and timely intervention can reduce complications and deaths.
