Athlete's Foot: How to treat and prevent it

Athlete's foot is a contagious fungal infection that affects the skin on the feet.  

What increases the risk of getting this infection?  
- Having sweaty feet.  
- Keeping your feet wet for long periods.  
- Walking barefoot in wet areas.  
- Wearing tight, closed-toe shoes.  
- Sharing socks, shoes or towels with an infected person.
