Where there is lung disease, heart disease may follow

The lungs and heart are close together in the chest. It turns out they are also closely associated in disease states. This is because patients with some of the most common lung diseases such as emphysema are substantially more likely to suffer a heart attack and develop other major heart problems. So where there is lung disease, it's wise to keep an eye on the heart.
