Antibiotics are drugs that are used to treat infectious diseases; these drugs work either by killing infective bugs or impairing their growth. When a doctor prescribes these drugs, it’s always because you have a bug somewhere in your body causing your symptoms.
When a doctor prescribes the correct type of antibiotic and the dose, he draws on years of training and knowledge of how the drug works in the body and how the body handles it, as well as theeffective and toxic doses of that drug for the infection he wants to treat. But when you “prescribe” these drugs for yourself or your loved ones, you might be putting them in danger.
Each time you abuse or misuse an antibiotic, you render it less-effective because antibiotic abuse/misuse can change bacteria so much that they become antibiotic-resistant. Antibiotic misuse and abuse push us all to a scary future where nothing works!
