Abnormal protein deposits are often present in the brains of affected persons. The symptoms and signs of these dementias differ in subtle ways. In Alzheimer’s disease, memory loss is the main symptom while Parkinson’s disease dementia starts with movement problems followed by memory loss. In Lewy body dementia, it is the other way around.
