Kids and young adults who do not drink water throughout the day may consume twice the amount of calories from sugary drinks than those who drink water. The excess calories consumed was estimated to be about 200 calories per day, in a U.S. study. Extra 3,500 calories equals one pound of weight gain, which could add up over several months.
