High Blood Pressure Medications Does not Increase Risk of COVID-19

A new study shows that common high blood pressure medications do not increase one’s risk of contracting COVID-19 or developing severe disease, contrary to what many medical experts have suggested.

The study was launched in response to concerns raised by scientists that common blood pressure-lowering medications could increase the risk of COVID-19. The study found that four classes of blood pressure medications – angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibiters, angiotensin receptor blockers, beta blockers, and calcium channel blockers – had no link to an increased risk of COVID-19.

Furthermore, the study found no link between these medicines and the risk of severe disease in patients with COVID-19.

These findings reassure the medical community about the safety of these drugs. You can safely take your BP medications without worrying about increased risk of developing or dying from COVID-19.
