Borno and WHO Partner to Control Seasonal Malaria Infection

The partners deployed 8,000 community health workers to deliver prophylactic medicines for over two million children aged 3 and 59 months in the state.

Malaria accounts for more than half of the sicknesses and deaths recorded in children under 5 years, which increases between July and October, the peak transmission period. As part of the program also, there will be a door-to-door campaign, which is being implemented across 25 local government areas, in addition to community sensitization, risk communication, and social mobilization and referral of patients to secondary care.
