Start early, start strong: The WHO recommends more physical activity for children under 5 years


The World Health Organisation has issued new guidelines on physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep for children under five years of age. The guidelines list specific recommendations based on three age categories: under 1 year, 1-2 years, and 3-4 years. The principles reflected in the recommendations are replacing prolonged restrained or sedentary time with active play, and ensuring sufficient good-quality sleep.
