Changes occur in lean muscle mass and fat mass around menopause


Menopause is a time of major hormonal changes for women. A recent study identified the loss of lean body mass and a doubling of the fat mass as some of the changes during this transitional period, noting that these changes may not be detected by routine measures like body weight. The study also found that the changes can be affected by race/ethnicity.
