Make a big splash to make the memory stick

Why do we remember some things and not others? There are possibly many reasons, and one appears to be how powerful the experience was. More powerful experiences or reward lead to stronger memory encoding during the experience, plus memory consolidation through replay after the experience. The hippocampus, which is the memory-processing center of the brain, appears to play a central role in the replay process.
