Is 5G network harmful? Several conspiracy theories have been promoted about the fifth generation or 5G wireless technology being responsible for deaths during the coronavirus pandemic.
5G technology provides faster connectivity and more bandwidth than 4G, but because it is new, little is known about its health hazards. An Oregon State study has concluded that 5G is generally safe.
The team of researchers conducted the experiment using embryonic zebrafish, because of its similar developmental patterns and genetic characteristics as humans. The researchers exposed the zebrafish for two days to 3.5GHz radiofrequency radiation, which is used for 5G cell phones. After two days, the researchers found no significant impacts on mortality or a change in bodily processes in response to the frequency.
Future studies will experiment with higher frequencies and higher exposure levels to keep pace with the expanding cellphone technology.
