Children may not be sick when infected with SARS-CoV-2, but they sure can spread the virus
Not only can children get infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, they can spread it too. A recent study conducted at Harvard University showed children with COVID-19 shed large amounts of the virus even when they do not appear sick. The amount of virus shed by some children who were not sick was greater than what was shed by some sick adults. The researchers caution that the risk of silent transmission by children should be taken into consideration when developing policies on school reopening all over the world.
