Ugandan Creates COVID Shields for Motorcycles

As part of measures to stem the spread of COVID-19, a Ugandan innovator has created a plastic shield for motorcycles to protect the rider and passenger.

In April, the Ugandan government banned bikes on roads because of the close proximity between the rider and passenger. To solve this problem, Dickson Ngirani created a plastic shield mount between them. The shield serves two purposes: to protect the passenger from picking up contaminants on the road and to limit contact with then rider.

Uganda’s Ministry of Works acknowledged the innovation and is investigating its effectiveness.
