Yellow Fever Outbreak in Togo

A case of yellow fever was reported in April, 2020 in Galangashie health area, Olli district in the Savanes region of northern Togo.

The case involved a 55-year-old woman who developed fever and body aches on 31 January 2020 and presented to a nearby healthcare center on 3 February 2020. The patient had no recent travel history prior to symptom onset and has no yellow fever vaccination history.

Togo has a strong febrile jaundice surveillance system, with a weekly case surveillance, reporting, and sample testing. In 2019, almost all 44 health districts reported at least one case of febrile jaundice, with a total of 349 cases, all of which tested negative for yellow fever.
