Ebola Outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo

On 31 May 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) received news of an outbreak of Ebola virus disease in DRC. The reports reveal that four people died in the country between 18 May and 30 May following a brief febrile illness.

As of 2 June 2020, the country reported eight epidemiologically-linked cases, including two cases that were confirmed alive, two suspected cases, and four deaths.

This current outbreak is the 11th outbreak reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo since the virus first emerged in 1976.
