Nigeria Declares Lassa Fever Emergency Phase Over The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) as declared the emergency phase of the country’s Lassa Fever outbreak over. The emergency phase in the country was declared on January 24, which activated the national Lassa Fever Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to ramp up measures to curb the spread of the disease in the country. Emergency measures were lifted after a steady decline in the number of cases in the country. However, this does not mean the fight is over. Lassa fever is a viral hemorrhagic disease that occurs all year round, but peaking between November and May.
